What is not in the course?
- This Legionella Awareness Training Course does not cover the details required to manage more complex systems such as cooling towers, evaporative condensers, spa pools, swimming pools, or manufacturing process waters.
The expected outcomes
- Give you the confidence to work with specialist contracts and your in-house delivery team to manage a legionella control regime so that it is safe and legally compliant
- Understand the duties of the appointed competent person, ‘The Responsible Person’ and the statutory Duty Holder.

What is the course format?
The course is delivered via MS Teams or alternative video link in ‘virtual classroom environment’ with a live presenter.
Our trainers are experienced legionella professionals, typically from our consultancy department.
How long does this course take?
The course information takes about three hours to deliver and is split in to three one-hour sessions with breaks in between. We suggest you allow a morning or an afternoon up to four hours depending on the size of the group to allow for introductions and questions.
Is there a test?
A test is not required. Throughout the training the presenter will interact with attendees and ask questions to ensure understanding and review material as necessary.
If you are organising training for your team and would like an assessment to be included, we can include a test and discuss your requirements with you.
Certification
You will receive a Second Element branded PDF certificate of attendance via email and can also have access to City and Guilds certification and digital credentials if you wish. Certificates do not have an expiry date, however the recommended renewal period for this training is two years.
